Acreage in White Rock is available for people who wish to buy larger land sizes than to own just a small city lot. Although acreage is not normally a consideration for many buyers, since the city itself encompasses a small area with a population of about 20,000 people, there are indeed a number of places that still have larger lots available, and where you can own your own piece of acreage.

What Lures People to White Rock

Located near the Canada-US border, near Peace Arch Park and border crossing to the east, the convenience of shopping in Surrey to the north, wide open Delta to the west, and Semiahmoo Bay and border of Washington state (USA fuel prices are usually less than Canada) to the south, White Rock also has some of the most spectacular ocean views in the Vancouver area.
The long pier, marina, plus restaurants (fantastic fish and chips, and gelato) and shops down along the main strip by the beach is typically frequented by tourists as well as locals, especially during warmer months of summer. Because of the beauty and quaint feeling of the area, as well as sunny days and warmer temperatures during winter compared to North Vancouver (where the mountains bring heavier rains), not to mention that sometimes a US cell signal can be picked up near the beach, White Rock has become a popular place for retirees.

For those folks—whether in retirement or raising a family or other situation—who prefer larger lots/acreage and single family dwellings or multi-plexes (over cramped but expensive city condos that overlook the water), White Rock likely has something wonderful to offer you.

Benefits of Living Near White Rock

Even though there are some larger lots in the White Rock area, there are definitely some advantages to going a few blocks into the edge of Surrey, particularly for those who wish to spend less money yet still remain within walking or biking distance to the beach. Surrey borders White Rock all the way around its edges (minus where the water or US border are) and offers less expensive yet larger homes than within the boundaries of White Rock. Just something to consider. It is not uncommon to find one or more acres of land, or a house built on such, in the area surrounding White Rock.
