We always like to recommend you call ahead of time to make sure your children can attend the school in the year you plan to move. Often in strong real estate markets like Capitol Hill schools can fill up and not be able to take on another student.

Within the Community Border is the well-known Eileen Daily Leisure Pool & Fitness Centre located at 240 Willingdon Ave Burnaby (604)298-7946. Here you can register your children in swimming lessons, lifeguarding courses and competitive swimming teams. There is also public swimming where the children can swim for fun and use the water slide that is in the pool. Next to the pool in the same area is the McGill Library  & Confederation Community Centre. The Community Centre is great for renting out the multipurpose rooms and having special occasions or classes.

The Pool, fitness centre and the Community centre is located within the Confederation Park found at 250 Willingdon Ave Burnaby. This park is very big and has many uses and areas. There is a Skateboard Park, illuminated all weather fields, trails to walk or jog, track and field track, off leash dog trails, and it actually is connected to the trans Canada trail which is a long walk that runs through a vast portion of North Burnaby. There are also three other parks within the area, Scenic Park located at 5321 Scenic HWY Burnaby, Stratford Park and Harbourview Park.

Two major staples within the community are the Pacific Grace Mandarin Church located at 380 Hythe Ave Burnaby & Burnaby Christian Pentecostal Church found at 209 Hastings St Burnaby. Two great churches that are always happy to see new faces and offer welcoming arms to those who are interested in seeing what they offer.

Besides the pools, recreation centres and parks there are plenty of independent Boxing and fitness studios located in this area as well. There is also some small shopping, coffee shops and restaurants located within the immediate area as well. Domenico’s Italian Restaurant found at 5625 East Hastings St Burnaby (604)291-2262 is an amazing pasta house and we highly recommend that if you’re in the area browsing a home that you stop by for a bite.
