This area is absolutely perfect if you have children in grades 8-12 as the neighborhood is located right next to New Westminster Secondary School. From every point of the neighborhood you can walk to the school. The New Westminster Secondary School is located at 835 8thSt New Westminster (604)517-6220. For smaller younger children Lord Kelvin Elementary School is located at 1010 Hamilton St New Westminster (604)517-6060 and is also walking distance from pretty much anywhere in this neighborhood as well.

Nearby is Royal City Shopping Centre. This is New Westminster’s main indoor mall. Here you can find underground parking and lots of different stores and shops inside. There are also fantastic places to eat and get cooking ingredients all along the block. One bakery in particular we would like to mention is the 6th Avenue Bread & Deli located at702 6th Ave New Westminster (604)516-0056. This bakery makes some of the most amazing potato/onion bread known to man. If you have celiac disease, or gluten intolerance, this place may be your saviour. The price of the bread is fairly reasonable but, the bread itself is like a delicacy and you cant find it anywhere else. The owner won’t tell you how the bread is made and the recipe is kept a secret so don’t even ask.

There are many other local unique shops within this area including coffee shops, Jewelers and excellent ice cream and gelato shops. If you’re looking for an area with great entertainment there are also local movie theatres in the area where you can watch the latest blockbuster as well as many local pubs, clubs, parks and great places to dine.

Moody Park is nearby and has plenty of places to play all sorts of sports like baseball, soccer, tennis, lacrosse, basketball or even go swimming in its outdoor pool and run through the water park in the summer months. There are also great trails and picnic tables and areas to eat and relax with friends and family as there is plenty of open greenspace and public washrooms.

Detached homes in need of some very significant repair and possibly ready to be torn down usually are listed for under $600,000, depending on the condition of the home and the lot size. For some older homes in need of some updating and renovation you can find some nicer homes with unique character and charm for $650,000 and above. Some of the homes here will come will wonderful views of Mt. Baker and Gulf Islands as this is kind of where the hill that New Westminster was built on crests and can give some properties a phenomenal outlook point.
