Langley townhouses are some of the hottest items in the Greater Vancouver area. While downtown Vancouver and its suburbs have condos as the homes of choice, people moving to Langley can afford a larger townhouse and get far more bang for their buck!

Langley Townhouses Offer More

Townhomes afford two levels rather than one, as well as increased square footage, more options like end units, a private backyard with little upkeep, and a greater number of available rooms, and typically provide a garage plus additional parking space in the driveway for two-car families.
All of this comes for a similar price as a simple 1-2 bedroom apartment in the inner city, yet the commute to Langley is still quite minimal, especially for people who work in the outlying cities, in Langley itself, or even Abbotsford. This means convenience is factored in for a better quality of life overall.

New Townhomes in Langley

There are many new Langley townhouses currently under construction. This means choices! You can often choose homes with favourable paint colours and kitchen countertops (e.g., granite), bathroom colours and fixtures of your preference, and floor options, such as laminate flooring. Some homes are completely customizable, while others offer a selection of pre-set options. These homes are among the top in the townhome category for price, however, so expect delays for choosing and waiting for them to be built before you get a final move-in date.

Used Townhouses in Langley

Affordability of used (even 1-2 years old or more) townhouses is unsurpassed in Langley since it is part of the Greater Vancouver area, which equates to one of the most excellent opportunities around. Many of these homes are still like new, while others are 5-years old or so but still move-in ready, and yet other homes are 10-years old or greater, but they are still “new” enough to not need any serious work or updates. 20+ year old townhomes may need some fix-up, but for a handyman type of person this means some serious pocket savings since a buyer can do much of the work himself/herself and still wind up with a fantastic home at an even greater savings.

Townhome Comparison to Single Family Homes

There are numerous reasons why you might want to choose a townhome over a single family residence/house. Some of the pluses for a Langley townhouse, which shares the same features as a single family home, includes private garage for parking your car, possibly extra driveway space, a backyard for gardening or patio area for BBQing, a privacy fence (may be optional), two levels for greater living space/floor area, more storage space, larger kitchen, formal dining area, and up to three bedrooms.
The benefits of a Langley townhome over a single family dwelling includes that there is far less yard upkeep (a mower is not usually necessary—a weed eater will usually suffice), less maintenance on the building (front and back is typical, plus no side yards or side walls or eaves to clean, paint, or repair), and a much greater savings on purchase price, among other things.

Townhome Comparison to a Condo

Most people know right away why choosing a Langley townhouse would be superior to buying a condo. They both do share some features, however, such as: shared walls with neighbors, fees built-in to the monthly cost that covers maintenance and upkeep of the property, shared common areas and amenities like a community center, weight training room, hot tub or pool, and so on. For people wanting the same conveniences that a condo brings, yet more privacy and space, a townhouse would be the way to gain that.

Benefits of a Langley townhome over a condominium style home, however, are many.
These include:

  • Thicker walls, more insulation, and greater sound barrier between units—this means you are less likely to hear noises from your neighbor’s home than you would in a condo unit.
  • Builders may have higher standards for construction and the building materials or appliances, etc., that they put into a townhome compared to a condo.
  • Condos do not provide a garage that is attached to the home that townhouses typically have.
