Acreage is still available in Cloverdale, while it is disappearing fast in the greater Surrey area. Homes in Surrey suburbs are being packed in like sardines as old houses are torn down and zoning is upgraded to ‘multifamily’—meaning townhouses, condos, high rises, or other tightly-packed housing types—yet Cloverdale still has spacious lots and full acreage plots of raw land for sale… at least for now.
Fraser highway is to the north, plus highway 10 and highway 15 both intersect in Cloverdale, giving fast access to border crossings and other parts of Surrey or even a quick jaunt to Highway 1 to commute to Vancouver. In the past Cloverdale was a transportation and agricultural centre, and like the rest of Surrey, is one of the fastest growing communities in British Columbia. That means anyone wanting acreage should nab it while they still can!

Cloverdale: Big-City-Country is Still Affordable

Buying or building on Cloverdale acreage is like owning a piece of the countryside in the big city due to larger lot sizes and proximity to amenities. Services within the city are close by and plentiful; this means there is no lack of stores or shopping choices. Because of this, Cloverdale is one of the few “big city country” types of places left in the lower mainland. Prices are still lower as well, especially when compared to the rest of Surrey.
Affordable housing is one of the greatest things about owning a home on acreage in Cloverdale. There is no shortage of real estate and yet prices are better than even a few miles away, or especially the Surrey city centre area (where real estate housing prices are skyrocketing). Cloverdale provides peace of mind with homes people can afford, with quiet backyards and a little slower pace of life.

Cloverdale Perks

Living in Cloverdale has its perks… one of which is the weather, and the others include room to grow, and the historical/heritage sites.
The temperature climate of the lower mainland BC keeps summers comfortably warm but not too hot, while winters are some of the best in Canada (mild temperatures and rainy instead of freezing with deep snow like central or eastern Canada). This makes Cloverdale a welcoming place to live, breathe, work and play!

Cloverdale still has room to grow, unlike housing communities in the rest of Surrey. You can still have an acre or a small hobby farm, raise horses or other animals, or even have a small piece of the forest for your backyard. There is room to grow in Cloverdale with larger lots—build your shed, backyard retreat, or add onto the house with a full size home theatre, or extra bedrooms for extended family. Land lots in the rest of Surrey are generally too small to add on much, if at all.

One of the few known benefits of living in Cloverdale are the heritage sites (like William Shannon’s original 1875 homestead) that exist within Cloverdale’s borders. Christ Church is one of the oldest buildings in the area, built in 1870, and Surrey’s official museum is in Cloverdale and is usually open for tours.
